Kalloni

In the municipality of Kalloni at the north side of the Kalloni Bay, you are at the geographic centre of the island of Lesbos, yet still by the sea on account of the island’s largest bay penetrating right into the heart of the island, bringing a welcome freshness in the heat of summer.

This is where the small fishing village of Skala Kallonis is located, a natural, vibrant hub of activity. Next to the marketplace you will find the small harbour with its taverns and bars along the shore. In the harbour you can watch the brightly coloured fishing boats unloading their catch and the fishermen repairing their nets. Everything you will need is here: bakeries, greengrocers, restaurants, bars, car-rental, souvenir shops and supermarkets with international newspapers.

Set your soul free and enjoy the long sandy beach, paddle in the clear, shallow water while your gaze drifts over the shimmering bay. The waters here are protected from the open sea and thus ideal for families with children.

Stroll through the streets of Kalloni, the second largest village on Lesbos. You will find banks, a police station, a small hospital clinic and many charming and authentic shops. This is where you will find the real provincial Greek life and real Greeks sitting in front of their homes or debating heatedly in the many “Ouzerias” and local “Kafenions”. The whole municipality of Kalloni is very popular and welcoming, with a still intact and unspoiled character that is increasingly hard to find these days.

The area is the ideal starting point for all kinds of excursions by car, by bus, by bike or motorcycle. You will get from here to any corner ot the island within 1 hour. Here you are in the heart of Lesbos but still at the same time by the peaceful shore… this is the perfect location!
